Communicorp’s Jessica Maciel gets show on BBC Radio 1

Communicorp presenter/producer Jessica Maciel is one of 35 people to be selected to host a radio show on BBC Radio 1 in the UK over the festive period. The station asked for demos from anyone with radio experience back in October, and received over a thousand applicants. Jessica, who joined the Communicorp Media in 2015 is set to cover Scott Mills’ weekday slot of 1-4PM from December 29th- 31st. Speaking about the news, Jessica Maciel said: “To be getting the opportunity to get behind a BBC Radio 1 mic feels like a dream and I can’t wait to have the craic with the team and listeners! I really can’t thank those within Communicorp who have helped and mentored me over the past few years. As a result I have been able to take this incredible step in my career.” ...

Former 2FM presenter Phil Cawley joins Radio Nova

Phil Cawley has joined the weekend presenter lineup at Radio Nova. Phil has been a main presenter on Today FM since its launch in 1997, having previously been with 2fm and various local stations including Wicklow’s Easy 103. He will present Saturday afternoons on the station. Cawley said: “I love being on Nova! It’s like hanging out in my best friends house playing our favorite tracks! Without the Beer!!!” ...

New voices for Today FM’s weekend schedule

Today FM has announced a new line up of voices to its weekend schedule including Anna Geary, Pamela Joyce and Claire Beck. Anna Geary will join Declan Pierce to co-host a brand-new show called Pumped up Kicks (Saturdays, 2-6pm) kicking off on Saturday, 26th October. Pamela Joyce, who joined the station last year, will now present three shows across the weekend: Friday Night Anthems (10pm-12am), Saturday (11am-2pm) and Sunday (1pm-4pm). The winners for the all-Ireland IMRO Radio Awards 2019 have been announced. They include Newstalk getting Gold in the Full Service Station of the Year category, 98FM winning the title of Music Station of the Year and WLR FM coming out on top as Local Station of the Year.
