Luke O’Faolain joins Nova for Sunday show

Luke O’Faolain is returning to Nova for a Sunday show from 2-6pm. It is five years since he was last heard on the station, having worked as their on-air movie reviewer for almost two years. Speaking with RadioToday, O’Faolain says, “I’m delighted to be getting back on air. I’ve really missed it. The music Radio Nova plays is absolutely fantastic. A bit of Bowie, sprinkle of Foo Fighters! I’m looking forward to hearing what people are up to on their Sundays as well. “That’s probably what I’ve missed the most. Gold radio awards for Newstalk, Ocean FM and Radio 1

RTÉ Radio 1, Newstalk 106-108FM and Ocean FM took home Gold awards from this year’s virtual New York Festivals Radio Awards event. Newstalk was given the Best Innovation Gold for its Between The Lines “Living with a disability in Ireland” documentary, whilst Ocean FM was recognised for Best Human Interest Story for Getting Better, Not Bitter. RTÉ Radio 1 got Gold for The Case of Majella Moynihan documentary in the National Or International Affairs category, along with 16 other awards ranging from Silver to Finalist for dramas, social issues, history, culture and digital. Radio 1 Extra also got two awards, a Silver and Finalist badge, for digital content. Two docs from Off The Ball were also recognised with Finalist certificates...

Radio Nova broadcasts a Stay At Home Music Festival

Radio Nova is spending the Easter Weekend broadcasting its ‘Stay At Home Music Festival’. With the current lockdown continuing for a further three weeks, the station has live music from almost 100 of the world’s most iconic artists performing on one ‘radio stage’. Artists such as The Rolling Stones, Amy Winehouse, Prince, Bob Marley, REM, Thin Lizzy, Depeche Mode, The Cranberries, Dire Straits, ELO, Coldplay, Steely Dan, Muse, David Bowie, Talking Heads, Rod Stewart, ZZ Top, Tears For Fears, Elton John, The Doors and many more will feature every hour across the weekend. Radio NOVA’s Help Our Homeless Radiothon returns

Today sees the return of the annual Help Our Homeless Radiothon from Radio NOVA for the 5th time. The two-day event will see celebrities from across the entertainment, music and political spectrum lend their support live on-air. All funds raised will be donated to Focus Ireland to fund projects like its new Family Centre which works with families to help get them out of homelessness as quickly as possible. Former 2FM presenter Phil Cawley joins Radio Nova

Phil Cawley has joined the weekend presenter lineup at Radio Nova. Phil has been a main presenter on Today FM since its launch in 1997, having previously been with 2fm and various local stations including Wicklow’s Easy 103. Radio Nova wants to take over RTÉ’s national DAB frequencies

Following the news that RTÉ is to close at least five DAB digital radio stations, Radio Nova has told RadioToday it will happily take over the frequencies. The public broadcaster has not announced any timescales, or if the national multiplex it runs will be closed as well.
