DAB digital radio broadcasting ends in Ireland

Today marks the end of DAB digital radio transmissions in Ireland as RTÉ switches off its services on the platform. Jason Collins takes over second show at East Coast FM

Jason Collins has become the presenter of a second weekend show at East Coast FM. Jason will now present More Music Weekend from 2 – 6pm on Sunday afternoons. He has taken over the slot from Ryan O’Neill, who has moved to Saturday afternoons. In 2018, Jason joined the Wicklow-based station as a cover presenter. Barry Lang flies back to radio with Classic Hits

Former 2FM presenter Barry Lang is returning to radio with a weekend show on Classic Hits. Barry is best known for presenting drivetime on the 2FM in a radio career that spanned more than 18 years before leaving in 1998 to become a professional airline pilot. New breakfast at RTÉ 2FM as Eoghan McDermott exits

RTE digital radio services to continue online

RTÉ is ending transmissions on DAB digital radio at the end of March, but its DAB-only services will now continue online. Previously, the broadcaster announced it would end DAB transmissions and close RTÉ Gold, RTÉ 2XM, RTÉ Radio 1 Extra, RTÉ Pulse, and RTÉjr Radio. But in a U-turn, these stations will survive due to feedback from listeners. Beat 102-103 finds the ultimate smarty pants

Beat 102-103 has named a Tipperary man as the South East’s ultimate Smarty Pants. The competition, called Smarty Pants, kicked off on Monday when Beat challenged self-confessed know-it-alls to prove they had the smarts to face up to the presenters in a general knowledge showdown.
